Community Outreach Services

Brownfield Redevelopment Solutions, Inc. (BRS) provides community outreach facilitated discussions and technical information dissemination to a broad audience including community groups, local officials and regulators. This service supports the land use and redevelopment decision making processes and develops a sense of ownership and involvement throughout the community, improving the final product.

When communities have an incomplete understanding of the information associated with contaminated property, perceived risks persist and policy makers are driven to collect unnecessary data, increasing project cost and lengthening project schedules. When dealing with community contaminated property concerns, we take a two-pronged approach;

  1. Be forthright with information as it becomes available
  2. Educate the public about the actual risk associated with dealing with contaminated properties

We can conduct community outreach on a site-specific basis to educate neighborhoods about site particulars, or on a broader basis to establish an ongoing dialogue on brownfield redevelopment including ongoing education, planning, investigation, remediation and development.  Our community outreach services include:

  • Assisting with identifying relevant stakeholders
  • Preparing fact sheets and hand-outs to support information dissemination
  • Establishing brownfield technical advisory committees to help guide public sector brownfield programs
  • Facilitating community, planning, design charettes and regulatory agency meetings
  • Preparing post-meeting debriefing material for stakeholders
