Point Pleasant, New Jersey
BRS provides a range of environmental, technical, and planning solutions for the company’s clients. The Borough of Point Pleasant, New Jersey is located between the Manasquan River and the Barnegat Bay adjacent to the Jersey Shore. Point Pleasant is like many other Jersey Shore communities that offer scenic vistas but have few areas for expansion.
As a result, BRS was contracted by local officials to develop the following documents:
- Open Space and Recreation Plan: BRS coordinated the field survey of more than 100 sites and held public meetings regarding current and potential open space and recreational properties in Point Pleasant. These efforts resulted in an Open Space and Recreation Plan that provides the community’s Open Space Committee with a structured way to evaluate property acquisitions. The Plan also adheres to requires set forth by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s Green Acres Program, making Point Pleasant eligible for future site acquisition funds.
- Natural Resources Inventory: In conjunction with the development of the Open Space and Recreation Plan, BRS managed the development of new mapping components to supplement Point Pleasant’s existing online Natural Resources Inventory.
- Canal Walk Evaluation Recommendations and Implementation Plan: BRS oversaw the development of an evaluation study prepared by TRC Environmental Corporation that assessed existing conditions, opportunities, and constraints involved with the potential creation of a pedestrian and biking trail network along the environmentally and historically significant Point Pleasant Canal. This resulted in a report that includes recommendations related to the design and potential implementation of a pedestrian- oriented network along this canal.
